Sophie was at a family dinner, and her aunt kept offering her more food. “Come on, Sophie, just one more cookie!” her aunt said. Sophie didn’t want to eat more, but she didn’t know how to say no. Her mom whispered to her, “It’s okay to say no politely. You can thank her for the offer, but let her know you’re full.” Sophie nodded. The next time her aunt offered her more cookies, Sophie smiled and said, “Thank you, Auntie, but I’m full. I had enough to eat and feel happy!” Her aunt smiled back and didn’t push it. Sophie felt proud of herself. She realized it was okay to set boundaries and be polite about it. She didn’t have to feel awkward saying no. Sophie learned that it’s okay to take care of her body and be kind at the same time. She could enjoy family gatherings and still listen to her body’s needs. Sophie felt empowered and happy, knowing she could be kind to others and herself!
