“Calorie Density: Eat More, Feel Full, and Lose Weight”

Tommy always felt hungry after lunch, even though he ate a big sandwich. He didn’t understand why. One day, his grandma explained calorie density to him. “Tommy, it’s not about how much you eat; it’s about what you eat,” she said. “Some foods are packed with lots of calories in small amounts, like candy. But other foods, like fruits and veggies, fill you up without lots of calories. These are called low-calorie-dense foods!” Tommy was curious. Grandma showed him how he could fill his plate with colorful veggies and fruits and still stay full, but without eating too many calories. She said, “When you eat foods that are less calorie-dense, you can eat more and feel satisfied without gaining weight.” Tommy tried it and, to his surprise, felt full after a big salad and some fruit. He learned that he didn’t have to eat less, he just had to eat smarter. By choosing foods that were lower in calorie density, Tommy could eat more and still feel full, while also losing weight. This new way of eating made Tommy happy because he could enjoy his meals and still feel good about his choices.
